The Everest roof of the world is called Chomolungma (the mother rock) in the local Tibetan language and CHONCHOMYALUNG (A sharp mother rock) in the Kirant language. Buddhist and Kirant cultures. Myths and anthropologists believe that the first human KIRANT came to visit this region by crossing AMPHULAPCHA from the southeast. After that, the  GELZONG (Bhote/Tibetan) came to visit this region by crossing NGANG PA LA from the Northwest. The first Kirant and the 2nd Gelzong were both nomadic tribes. The first Kirant visitor was called “MAPYA,” who arrived with two of his dogs for hunting, and similarly, “GELZONG” arrived to search for food. Also, the Myth holds that most places in the KHUMBU Region were named by MAPYA.

MAPYA and two of his dogs were not able to sustain around in the JYOG JE (A giant terrible animal shouts, a yeti) area (Recent diverted name is GORAKSHEP). Then, they descended to the Pangmuje area for better atmosphere and hunting availability. Coincidentally, Mapya met a Gelzongmya woman just in Pangmuje due to the food reservation and stealing procurement. In the beginning, they did not understand their language and only communicated by body language. Mapya had very first time tasted the Salt offered by Gelzongmya (BHOTENI/ TIBETAN NOMADIC WOMAN) and  Gelzongmya also the very first time tasted meat burnt on the fire. It was an amazing new experience for both of them.  A similar barter trend continued until they started to exchange their mutual heart and fell in love. Some years later, Mapya and Gelzongmya descended to the lower places for a better household or livelihood.

Historically and anthropologically, the civilization of the Everest region has four ancient historical eras: The nomadic era, the pilgrimage era, the Trans- Himalayan era, and the settlement era.  And regionwise it has four important valleyssuch as: Chhukung Valley (Eastern Nomadic Alley), Khumbu Valley (Prime Himalayan Alley), Gokyo Valley (holy alley), and Thame Valley (Bhote or Northern Nomadic Alley). Tibetan tribes. Later on, due to geographical and political issues, the Tibetan caste was transmitted into the Sherpa and became the Khumbu region, the prime homeland of Sherpas.

Getting into the Everest region became a passion all year through. There are so many ways to get into this region; however, the common practice for Travelers to get in and get out is by domestic flight or helicopter to Lukla or overland drive near Lukla.

Notice for domestic flights to and from Lukla

The Tribhuwan International Airport and the domestic Airport are partially the same in Kathmandu. So it used to be a heavy air traffic during international flights. That is tremendously affecting the smooth flight operation to Lukla, which mostly departs early in the morning. Most of the tourists come to Nepal for the Everest region trekking, and the main gateway to enter this legendary region is by flight to Lukla. The airport in Lukla is only suitable for small aircraft, so there would be countless flights in a day. Thus, aviation had decided to operate regular flights not from Kathmandu but from the nearest airport to Kathmandu during the main tourist season. At the moment, the nearest airport is in Manthali Ramechhap, which is approximately 4 4-hour drive away.

The flights are effective from the beginning of October to the End of November in autumn and March to mid-May in spring.

Most tourists get to drive in the middle of the night from Kathmandu to Manthali for the next day’s morning flight. But we recommend moving a day earlier from Kathmandu to nearby Manthali. That will provide the perfect views of the countryside of Nepal and also would not make the rush and uncomfortable drive.
