Annapurna round, Classic Trekking

Classic Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek
Mt. Dhaulagiri View from Muktinath Temple

Nepal is one country in the world that offers several ways of enjoying holidays for travelers. Among them, trekking is one of the best ways to explore the facts of Nepal and harvest the benefits of traveling. Only through trekking can one visit the hilly region, on the fold section of the big mountain terrain, jungle, arid landscape, cultural villages, panoramic nature, and lush forest zone. These travelers meet several culturally, naturally, anthropologically, historically, and geographically diversified things. These will amuse travelers' experiences and make their holidays fruitful in Nepal.

Trekking in the classic Annapurna circuit is a very popular destination across the whole world. It is one of the major listing trekking regions for normal to highlander trekkers, and it is a dream plan for most of the world’s outdoor sports, famous climbers, travelers, or adventurers. The trek starts at a very comfortable temperature and gradually goes up to the Himalayas. Of course, the legendary trekking trail has been destroyed by road extension; however, the walking path is created by the side or alternatively. In the past, the Annapurna Circuit trek needed a month-long holiday, but the road development has made it shorter now. So that trekkers can make the Annapurna circuit trek in a minimum of a week, and can extend it according to their own schedule.

Trekkers must drive from Kathmandu to Besishahar or nearby places by bus or private vehicle and take a local jeep service. Buses, cars, or taxis can’t drive on that road except for four-wheel drive; local jeeps provide daily driving from Besisahar to Manang. We don’t recommend trekkers directly drive to Manang due to altitude problems. If you are taking a private four-wheel drive from KTM, then just drive up to Jagat or Maximum to Chame (headquarters of Manang District), and then start trekking. Going directly to the very high altitudes is a big risk of altitude sickness. If someone is well-acclimatized at high altitudes, then they can be driven directly to Manang at 3500 meters above Sea level; otherwise, it is not recommended.

Annapurna Circuit trek provides the really magical joys of nature, cultures, traditions, history, geography, and anthropology. It begins at a greenery terraced agricultural field with picturesque villages and rounds up into the arid panoramic landscape and crosses over the 5,416 mtr Thorong-La pass in the Himalayas. Walking through the beautiful Bhanjyang (hilltop), passing Rivers with suspension bridges & waterfalls, crop fields, landslide sections, sacred temples, Stupas, Monasteries, Chortens, and holistic Caves. Visiting different ethnical groups with different hospitality, spending nights at their lodges, eating hygienic foods, zigzags up and down trails, amazing flora and fauna, beautiful yaks, enormous Glaciers, mind-blowing snow-capped mountain views, Lakes, and alpine pastureland is a rewarding lifetime trek.

Instead of big and high mountains, there are many things to do and places to see on this trek, such as Ngawal Cave, Ice Lake hiking, Gangapurna Base Camp hiking, Annapurna III Base Camp hiking, Holistic Milerepa Cave visit, Manang Monastery, Braka Monastery, Tilicho Lake excursion, Muktinath holistic temple, Jharkot Monastery, Kagbeni Monastery, and Kaligandai River bank walking. If the trek is extended from Muktinath or Jomsom, then pass through the world’s deepest gorge at Danaque to Tatopani and take the magical natural hot spring bath with sips of cold drinks. Plunging into a hot spring will relax and reinforce your tired muscles. Hiking up to Ghorepani and attending the regionally dominant, splendid Poonhill viewpoint and mystical views is a lifelong reward of the tour. Trekkers may end their trek at Banthanti and drive to Pokhara or continue for some more days via the famous Ghandruk Village from Ghorepani.

Trekking & Tour in the Upper Mustang Region

Trekking & Tour in Upper Mustang Region
Chhosser Cave in Upper Mustang

Visiting Upper Mustang was officially opened in 1992. Before that, it was completely forbidden for foreigners; it is called the land rain-shadowed because it is behind the mountains and is also called the Himalayan desert. The culture, tradition, and landscape are distinctly attractive, thousands of years old, hundreds of monasteries, Buddhist cultures, stupas, ancient caves, and hidden villages are the gems of Upper Mustang. It allows a limited number of trekkers each year to protect and conserve the local Tibetan tradition and the fragile environment. Trekking into this fabled forbidden kingdom of vast, arid valleys, eroded canyons, ochre valley, yak caravans, and colorful-painted mud brick houses on the backdrop of majestic mountains, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche makes the Mustang trek a very special experience.

In the upper Mustang, a well-known and famous city, Lo Manthang is the ultimate destination. Lo means a remote Himalayan province, while Manthang means an abundant place of beauty and happiness in the Tibetan language. In upper Mustang, real Tibetan Buddhism, lifestyles, religion, art, and culture are being preserved. During the 15th and 16th centuries, the acquisition of immense fortunes from the salt trade made Mustang a highly prosperous kingdom. Mustang became an important transit point on the salt trade route between Tibet and the large markets for salt in lowland Nepal and India. Later, due to the decline of the salt trade, agriculture and animal husbandry became the most important occupations of the people. Still, a little Himalayan kingdom exists in Upper Mustang with a local king (who just passed away) of Lo-Monthang, whose title has been given the honorary rank of Colonel in the Nepal army. Nowadays, the son of the passed King is taking the rule.

Mustang means the land of happiness and beauty, where the soul of a human is still considered to be as real as the feet he/she walk. They are very rich in culture and tradition, also strongly believe in Himalayan Buddhism; they have different ceremonies. Among them, there are three kinds of funeral cremations: burning cremation, sky burial cremation, and vulture feeding cremation. The vulture feeding ceremony is much more meaningful and quite strange; however, it is a usual practice in the fold of the hidden paradise.

The Himalayan Kingdom of Mustang has a lot of culture, tradition, and carnivals, among which one festival is called TIJI. This takes a three-day-long ritual known as" The Chasing of the Demons", one of the region’s most important festivals. Over the festive time, monks dressed in elaborate costumes and masks perform dances and rituals that are supposed to drive away evil spirits. Dressed in their finery, people from all over Mustang gather in Lo Monthang to celebrate the Tiji festival.

Manasalu Circuit Trek - 15 Days

Manasalu Circuit Trek
Just after the Larke Pass, 5,160 meters

Manaslu Circuit Trekking has been open only since 1991 for outsider travelers. This trek is a unique opportunity to experience and explore Pristine Mountain views, rich culture, and genuine adventure surrounding the "untouched" region of Nepal. Mt. Manaslu, 8,163m tall, is one of the most beautiful mountains in Nepal. Manaslu is derived from the Sanskrit word “MANASA,” which is translated as the mountain spirit. The trek begins from the old, independent kingdom of Gorkha to the Budi Gandaki valley. Distinctively, people are Buddhist and their links are transmitted from the Tibetan tradition. The flat-roofed houses boast Monasteries with embossed prayer wheels and Chortents guarding the entrances of towns. The Tibetan monks inhabiting sacred monasteries give the joy of the Tibetan feeling and spirituality. This area offers a combination of cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty, and biological diversity. The Manaslu was climbed 1956 for the first time by a Japanese alpinist. The trek is relatively enriched by flora and fauna, ascending and descending through the alpine forest, Himalayan villages, and landscapes comes to join at Dharapani the main classic trail to the Annapurna Circuit route, then ending in Besisahar by overland drive.

Langtang Helambu Trek

langtanghelambu

Langtang Valley, holy Gosaikund Lake, and Lauribina Pass to Helambu Valley trekking is one of the loveliest trekking routes. Langtang – Gosaikunda trek offers a good alternative away from popular destinations such as Everest, Manaslu, and Annapurna Circuits. Surrounded by lesser-known viewpoints and hilly tops in splendid alpine surroundings, the region has remained largely pristine. Langtang glacial valley passing through Lama Hotel and Ghoda Tabela, Langtang was a destroyed village by an earthquake in 2015 on our way to Kyanjin Gompa, the last settlement in Langtang Valley. And after a few days of wonderful trekking around Langtang Valley, we step into the sacred holy Lake of Gosainkunda. Gosaikund is a popular Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site. There are many different lakes with different names dedicated to Lord Shiva. The pass is mostly known as Gosaikund Pass, but on the map, you can find Laurebina Pass (4,600 m), the highest point on the trek. After passing the col, the trail enters different valleys with different landscapes, cultures, traditions, and natural diversities that are also very different. The lush green forests, up and down the trail through attractive villages, terraced fields, and passing very beautiful monasteries, Chortens, hills, and viewpoints.

Trekking in the Kanchanjunga Region

kanchanjunga
Kanchanjunga North Base Camp

Mt. Kanchanjunga 8,586m, is the second-tallest mountain in Nepal and 3rd Mountain in the world. The Kanchanjanga region trek is in the eastern part of Nepal. This region was opened only in 1988 for trekking. It is the source of the Arun River, which is one of the most popular and beautiful valleys for trekking through lush, low-lying valleys and up through incredible forests and into the high alpine pastures and glaciers landscape at the bottom of Kanchenjunga. Around this region, we enjoy an opportunity to experience the traditional culture of Rai, Limbu, Sherpa, Tibetan, and so many other types of ethnic groups in perfect harmony. Trekking in this area is an adventure that is full of enthusiasm, excitement, and above all, an unforgettable life experience. You will have an amazing opportunity to view/ explore the mountain’s wonderful rocky landscape and sloppy hills.

The Kanchenjunga area is protected by the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Project (KCAP), which is spread over an area of 2,035 sq. km. The Kanchenjunga area project is protecting varieties of flora, Fauna, and endangered animals.

Despite its stunning natural beauty, the Kanchenjunga region has remained off the radar of most trekkers, given its remote location and lack of infrastructure. In recent years, teahouses have been opened up in the villages and other convenient locations along the trail. This means that small groups can now trek here more affordably, and payment for accommodation and meals goes directly to the local economy.

Note that the trail is narrow and the teahouses are still simple; relatively few trekkers visit this remote area. You won’t find the fancy meals and attached bathrooms with hot showers available on the popular trekking routes, but you will experience real Nepal in all its diversity of cultures and landscapes.

There is essentially one main trail you can trek from North to the southern Kanchanjunga basecamp. This route is more comfortable and acclimatizes to altitude better rather from the South due to the fast ascending into the highland by steep adventure. Treks return to Ghunsa and cross the Sele le Pass at 4800m and descend to Ramche and to the South viewpoint. The trail crosses numerous ridgelines with incredible views back up to the Himalayas, lush forests, hot temperatures, and farmland ascending and descending to the ending point of your trek.

In fact, Island Peak is still a popular training peak for clients attempting high mountain expeditions because a lot of the skills required at Island Peak for crossing crevasses with ladders, using jumars on a fixed line, or a climber must be prepared perfectly with every climbing equipment and technique.

Trekking in the Dolpo Region

dolpo

Trekking into the Dolpo region (Karnali Province or Mid-Western Nepal) is one of the most remote areas in the pristine Himalayas. Trekking or Expeditions into Dolpo is also a tough and challenging but rewarding adventure tour. Dolpo is geologically part of the sedimentary Tibetan-Tethys zone. The Dolpo area remained isolated for many years; it was opened just in 1989 for outsiders. Therefore, the Tibetan primitive lifestyles, unique culture, language, and traditions are still well preserved. It is surrounded by the Himalayan chains, including the Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters). So the Dolpo area has a semi-arid climate caused by cloud barriers in the mountains.

Dolpo regions are historically divided into four valleys: Tsharka (good growing valley), DhoTarap (auspicious, excellent) valley, Tinje /Panzang (abode of monks) valley, and Saldang/Nangkhong (innermost place) valley. The southern valleys drain into the Bheri River, and the northern valleys between the watershed and Tibet drain westward by the Langu River, a tributary of the Karnali River via Mugu Karnali.

Trekking in the Dolpo region is grand, rugged, and remote. Dolpo region borders Tibet; thus, the culture, traditions, and landscape are reminiscent of and similar. As well as being remote, Western Nepal is also underdeveloped and quite poor. Permits are expensive, and one cannot trek in Dolpo independently and the tourism infrastructure in Dolpo is not what it is in much of Nepal. Trekkers must bring camping gear and supporting staff, including necessary food for the entire trek. Arid landscape, high passes, deep valleys, primitive Tibetan way of life, turquoise Phoksundo Lake, the oldest monasteries, plants, and highland wildlife are worth seeing during tours in Dolpo.
