Medical Financing for a Poor Woman by Mrs. Karin and Mr. Guido
Mrs. Jormaya Rai is 66 years old and a poor widow in the remote Himalayan village of Basa. Her husband died a long time ago, and her family background in the village is a marginal family. She lives in Basa and has the disease of chronic rheumatic arthritis. She was out of treatment due to money and was living at home and almost bed down. The joints in her body were completely out of function. According to the doctor, her disease cannot be cured; it can only be controlled by using the indicated medicine. She has to come to Kathmandu every three months for regular health follow-up and medical supplies. But her financial condition is beyond her availability and capabilities.
She was lacking medical treatment, always lamenting her life and just waiting for her last breath. Meanwhile, Mrs. Karin asked me if she could help someone with some money. Then I explained to her that the mother of our Porter, Tillak, is undergoing poverty and is not able to treat her sickness, which is treatable only in Kathmandu. Then Mrs. Karin Gandler was ready to support her medical financing, and since 2021, Mrs. Karin Gandler and Mr. Guido Schnitzer from Tirol, Austria, have been supporting Yearly Euro 600.00. This support makes Jormaya’s life easier; she is happily spending her old age with her son’s family. However, her sickness is not treatable throughout her lifetime except for control.

After so many years of treatment, Dr. Manisha Bhochhibhoya's report shows that Jormaya Rai's health is improving. Thus, she cut off some medicines; however, Jormaya needs to take regular medicine for Rheumatic Diseases for the entire lifetime.
Her regular doctor, Shweta Nakarmi, has been to Germany for further studies. So doctor Manisha Bhochhibhoya is looking after her health further.
The next appointment of Jormaya with the hospital and doctor is in November 2026. She needs to check CBC, CRP TITRE, RBS, KFT, LIPID, TFT, and S.CALCIUM reports for her health investigation.
